We test each heat exchanger for tightness

Reducing of internal leakage is an important topic while designing contemporary air handling units. An untight unit is not efficient and does not perform well any of its basic functions, i.e. fresh air supply to indoor environment and energy saving.

Tightness is one of the most important quality parameters of our heat exchangers. With Recutech you can be sure that we test each produced heat exchanger for tightness within the final quality check.

During this process, one air stream of the heat exchanger is closed and pressurized for 250 Pa. If the leakage is higher than 0,5 % of nominal air flow, the tightness testing machine does not print out the production label and the heat exchanger is not released from the quality check. On the production label you can find maximal allowable leakage defined by Eurovent as well as the real measured value. In 2020 the average leakage of our heat exchangers has been

0,14 %

valid for both aluminium and plactic ones. We carry out the measurements already several years, during the last 3 years we have tested 211 963 pcs. achieving average leakage 0,14 %.

By the plate heat exchangers, the leakages occur mostly on the plate folds and on the perimeter of the plate stack, i.e. in the place where the plates are attached to the heat exchanger’s casing.

At Recutech we attach the plates to each other by double folding which, especially in case of large heat exchangers, helps achieve higher strength and thus also higher tightness of the attachment. Tight attachment of plastic plates is ensured by ultra sound welding.
